About that Nikon D700 Review

by Patrick on October 9, 2008

If you haven’t already, check out DPR’s traditional “6 months after the fact” review of the Nikon D700. There are some nice crop comparisons of the D700, the Sony A900, the Canon 5D, and the D300…

by Patrick on October 1, 2008

It’s been two years since Nikon introduced the D80 and in the meantime the camera world has advanced at fairly rapid pace. Megapixels are bounding upwards, live view has become an all but certain camera feature…

Nikon D700 Digital SLR Camera Review

by Patrick on October 1, 2008

Thom has reviewed the Nikon D700, giving it a total going over, with comparisons and recommendations of the D700 siblings, the D3 and the D300. The usual suspects are all there, excellent build quality, exellent resolution, superb noise management, and dynamic range to boot…

Digital Review has a handy “cheat sheet” style comparison of Nikon’s brand new D90 versus the also newly released Canon EOS 50D, in addition to the Nikon D80 and Nikon D300. Definitely worth a read if you’re thinking about purchasing any of these cameras.

Just to update that previous post on the Canon 50D. I contacted the source mentioned, and while he can’t give specifics on the 50D, he does mention:

I point it out because unlike a lot of test shots, this one is a little more real world. Of course the caveat is that ISO is set [...]

If you’ve been trying to convince yourself that full frame isn’t that big of a deal, well you’ve been lying to yourself. As I said before, that bigger sensor makes a difference and most of that is evident in a little something called “image quality” (imporant to quite a few photograhers I hear). Full frame [...]

With Canon’s announcement Wednesday of it’s new camera and lens lineup, it would appear very unlikely that I’ll be getting a chance to see a replacement for the EOS 5D. While I suppose there is a tiny shred of hope that Canon might say something at the actual PMA, their history would indicated this unlikely.
This [...]

This time its DCRP getting all thorough on the D300. An intersting point in this review, is the extended battery life of the D300, certainly ahead of its competition, which seems to go hand in hand with the D300’s weight–near the top of its class. But yes you will still want this camera after reading [...]
