Curious about how Sigma’s 50mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM fares against the name brand competition? Well if you’re thinkin about ditching your current 50mm f/1.4 wait just a second, at least check out Peter Dumont’s little comparison of the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM vs the Canon 50mm f/1.4. Reichmann at Luminous Landscape compares the 2 “budget” high resolution full frame offerings from Canon and Sony. We’ve gone over this before, but it’s very hard to pick “winners” with these 2 amazing cameras, each offering a certain something to photographers. I’ve decided to go with the Canon EOS 5D Mark II, but others might [...]

How much of a real world difference does 24 megapixels make over 12 megapixels? For the curious, a somewhat extensive comparison has been done here at www.fotographie.fr.
A few things are pretty interesting. First the D3X obviously is bringing home the detail, but it is also doing at surprisingly high ISO. While they’ve run some noise [...]

While we’ve said this for awhile and commenters generally agree, any of the full frame cameras will serve you very well, delivering excellent performance and image quality. But if you’re still unconvinced, Luminous Landscape servers up an excellent comparison of the big 3; the Sony A900, the Canon 5D Mark II, and the Nikon D3x. [...]

In my limited time with the 50mm AFS, I’ve noticed that bokeh seems slightly better than the AFD version. Background lines are slightly less harsh in the AFS lens, but the difference is very small. The [...]

Prakash at Photography Musings has a comparison of the Canon EOS 5D Mark II and the Nikon D700, both of which he was lucky enough to have his hands on. On the ISO of the 2 cameras:
I set both cameras to shoot raw and used NR reduction in Raw and post processing before comparing because [...]

Peter Lück has a some nice image comparisons between the Canon Powershot G10 and the Panasonic LX3. All things being equal, a nice demonstration that yes the G10’s sensor resolution does indeed make a difference. The set is available here.
Thanks to Tom from the comments.

Not my favorite crop, but I’m just the messenger here folks.
Still, ISO 1600 looks pretty good, 3200 probably works fine with some noise removal, and at 6400 detail is starting to go bye-bye.

On occasion I’ll get asked about my preferences for workflow software, and it’s one of those questions where I know in advance that I won’t be able to give a satisfactory answer. The truth is, I use everything.
My basic workflow though begins with Lightroom 2, which I use to import my images and make bulk [...]
