Sony Carl Zeiss 16-35mm f/2.8 Lens Review at Alpha Mount World

The wide angle Zeiss offering from Sony seems a natural pairing for Sony A900 owners, promising superior optics, optimal build quality, and yes, a substantial price tag. The folks at Alpha Mount World have spent some considerable time with the 16-35mm f/2.8 and have posted their review:

Sharpness overall is exemplary on this lens, less wide open to mid apertures (f2.8 to f5.6) in the corners at 16mm which to be fair, aren’t really a setting that this lens is intended to be used at anyways.

Chromatic abberation and distortion seem well controlled, with maybe a slight vignetting issue. All in all the Sony Carl Zeiss 16-35mm f/2.8 is plenty good enough to win their “Highly Recommended”.
