Sony A900 Review: Meets the Needs of any Photo Enthusiast
For some reason or another the Sony A900 seems to consistently get overlooked by consumers. I suspect that a big part of it is a hesitation to spend a large amount of money on camera not made by Canon or Nikon, but given the good reviews, the Sony A900 is definitely worth considering. Again this all comes down to usage, but for studio and landscape use the Sony A900 is going to take pictures every bit as good as the 5D2 and Nikon D700. Also, consider this: the Sony is faster than the 5D2, and unlike the competition, features built in image stabilization.
Confirming all this, Shutterbug reviews the Sony A900, and they like it:
Particularly in Extra Fine JPEG or raw capture, image quality is superlative at ISO 100-400, suitable for making gallery-quality 13×19”—and much larger—prints. As you would expect, the ultrahigh resolution provides outstanding definition of texture and the most intricate detail. At ISO 800, digital noise is well controlled (automatically) so the images are smooth and richly detailed, suitable for excellent 11×16.5” prints. (The user-selectable High ISO NR feature is applicable only at ISO 1600 and above.)
