Sony A900 Image Samples
David Kilpatrick of Photoclub Alpha fame has posted an assortment of Sony A900 image samples here. For the younger folks out there, the A900 was the 24 megapixel, full framed, $3000 camera body from Sony meant to signal their seriousness in the DSLR marketplace, for a few days it seemed an incredible bargain, and then Canon introduced the 5D Mark II and essentially pulled the “Price is Right” move undercutting Sony by a few hundred dollars.
David’s shots are still with pre-production equipment so we can’t judge with certainty, but it looks like the A900 is going to hold up to ISO 800 before going to the dogs, which considering the A900 looks to be more of a “studio” type camera, is about all that’ll be needed. Under proper conditions, it does capture the detail, witness this shot and the fully resolved fishing line here.

Poor Sony, getting trounced like that. Wait a minute, am I feeling sorry for a corporate giant?
I’m sure they wished Canon could have given them a few more weeks to bask in the sun.
