Sony A850 Rumors: Would You Be Interested In A Sub-$2000 Full Frame DSLR?

It’s very likely that Sony is about to release an A850, and it looks to be nearly identical to the A900, except in cost saving measures the A850 will shoot at 3FPS (removing one of the 2 BIONZ processors found in the A900) and sport a viewfinder with 98% coverage instead of the 100% coverage provided by the A900’s viewfinder. We know this because Dyxum forum member “discovery531″ located the manual on Sony’s website (not the best place to hide it I’m thinking).

Interestingly some analysis by David Kilpatrick at Photoclub Alpha leads to this speculation:

Here’s my theory – they took away one of the two back-to-back BIONZ circuits, and used the space to install a greatly improved DSP for Noise Reduction, DRO and JPEG conversion.

In otherwords, the A850 might be a bit slower, while offering lower noise than the A900 (which you’ll remember doesn’t quite match the Canon EOS 5D Mark II and Nikon D700, D3 at high ISO noise)

The question is…are you interested in sub $2000 full frame camera?
