Sigma DP2 Review at Trusted Reviews: “Picture Quality…is Breathtaking.”

After a thorough accounting of what isn’t ideal about the Sigma DP2, Trusted Reviews is pretty frank about what the Sigma DP2 does deliver in their review:

I’ve been saving the best for last, as, like the DP1, the results make all the shortcomings of the DP2 fade pretty fast. Picture quality at low ISO settings is simply breathtaking, especially when viewing the X3 Raw files using the supplied Sigma Photo Pro software.

It’s these kind of remarks that continue to drive my interest in the DP2, and I suspect attract photographers with a keen interest in IQ to the DP2 as well. By the way, I have my fingers crossed that I might soon be receiving a review unit of the DP2, and you know I’ll keep you posted on that.

The files open to 11MB in LR and have the same detail as an 8-10MP camera. You can also sharpen these files w/o and artifacts occuring.
Getting color spot on means adjusting each shot by hand… so this camera is not my every day production camera- but I own a 5D MkII , 40D and even a D70 converted to IR and I love the Sigma- it is my play camera. The shutter sounds like BMW made the camera. Lush….
