Sigma DP2 Review at PDN Gear Guide
PDN Gear Guide has reviewed the Sigma DP2 and naturally it tremendously annoys me:
In the end, I found the bulkier 5D Mark II to be the much better traveling companion thanks to its comfortable grip and fast overall speed. Regarding image quality, while the DP2, like the DP1, might stack up fine against rival point-and-shoot models, it’s nothing compared to the 5D Mark II…

Seriously? Of course it’s *nothing* compared to the Canon EOS 5D Mark II (heck I even take issue with that). But other things annoy me as well like remarks of the DP2 resembling the DP1 (I’m pretty sure the 5D Mark II looks very much like the first 5D), or the “not a lot has changed since the DP1″ (the 5D2 borrowing quite a bit from the 5D). I don’t know it seems like some reviewers deliberately avoid dealing with the fact that the DP2 is a niche cameras, for particular photographers who shoot particular subjects. It reminds me of that saying “don’t bring a knife to gunfight”, but some reviews do just that, then mock the knife? I was thinking cameras should be review relative to their intentions, but maybe I’m just crazy. Does the DP2 do what it’s marketed to do? Incredibly well.

Why doesn’t he compare it to a 40MP Hasselblad now he’s at it?
Quite strange…G10 is one thing, 5D Mark II is another.
