What I keep reading:
- 21.1 MP 1.0x
- DIGIC IV
- ISO 100-6400 L:50 & H:12800
- 5 FPS
- 3.2″ High Resolution Screen (LCD)
- 19 point AF
- HDMI Out
- Liveview
- HD Movie Mode
- Viewfinder: 100% Coverage
- Full weather sealing
- EF Lenses only
So you’re saying the Canon is going to make the 5D replacement the super-duperest camera of them all and sell it for significantly less than 1D Mark III?
While I would love to be wrong… I think the previously rumored specs are going to be a lot closer, 16 megapixels, and no video recording, 3 inch high resolution LCD, etc…Canon needs a product to compete with the Nikon D700, not the Canon 1Ds Mark III.
Feedback?

Canon has gone resolution-crazy. One reason I decided on the Nikon D90 over the Canon 50D was that I don’t need the 15MP. It just eats up disk space, it does not add anything unless you have top lenses and print at three feet.

Regarding the article, I hope you’re wrong as well (because the rumored specs are HOT). In agreement with Eolake I don’t “need” a lot of MP but if they’re going to give me 16 to 21 Megapixels I’ll take it. You can ALWAYS use more mega pixels, disk space is a moot point, 1TB HDD for under $200 now.
The biggest selling point, is better noise reduction and the ability to top off at say 12800. The second selling point is a faster AF, and possibly a library of pre-recognized lenses.
I have a feew nice L lenses and I can’t wait to try them on the 50 and 5D. I do make big enlargements, but I always take it to a shop to have it printed properly, no home printer will match a $50k - $200k shop printer, so again, 21.1 Megapixels can be useful for some.

Price will be a big thing. I want the D700 pretty badly, but I would be sorely tempted at similar camera with 21mp (assuming similar ISO/noise) if it came in at a similar price. It does seem more likely, witness:
