Simon Starling’s “The Nanjing Particles” Canon Introduces PowerShot S90: 10 Megapixels, F/2(!) 28-105mm Lens
Rumor: Canon EOS 7D Imminent
We are getting a round of new Powershots from Canon right now, but not so clear is whether new EOS models will be released now or a bit later, though early Sept seems likely. What’s expected is another Rebel model below the T1i, and a 60D/7D model. Now that shot above (via Pusseapa in the DPR forums) is clearly pointing to a 7D, and that shot also happens to look very real. You’ll note the microphone input which clearly hints at some HD video in the spec sheet. What else might we find in the spec sheet? Full frame or APS-C sensor? I have a hard time thinking that Canon would put a full frame below the 5D Mark II, since it is selling so well. But if they did, and priced to compete with the D300s, well that would be something wouldn’t it….?

I think it’s a pretty safe bet we’ll get some “entry level”- priced full frame cameras in the next year.
But as you say, the 5D2 is still selling like pot at Woodstock, so it might not come from Canon first.
Thom had a thought: how about a mirror-less full frame system? Like Micro4/3, only four times the sensor area? Would be cool. Maybe full frame in a Rebel-sized body?
You’re likely right about FF on the cheap…at some point. On Thom’s thought, a mirrorless full frame, would be $$$$, I’m thinking they have tons of 15 aps-c sensors floating around for rebel use…more likely something like that in a mirrorless system initially, besides you have the diagram on your site, those FF sensors are quite large!
