Rampant Speculation on Pentax K7D Specs Begins
We’re theoretically a month away from any official news on the Pentax K7D (like is it actually going to be called a K7D?), but in the meantime this means everybody is free to speculate on what we’ll be getting in a K7D.
Possible specifications #1:
- Same sensor as the K20D
- Up to 6400 ISO with better noise treatment
- 5 images/sec
- 100 % viewfinder
- Better weatherproofing
- Mirror lockup
- Liveview and HD Video
- Better stabilizer
- Better DRE mode
- 77 zones light metering
- Much better AF system even with non-SDM lenses
- 3 inches/ 920 000 pixels screen with in-body editing (crop…)
- 1/8000 shutter with 1/250 sync

- possible name Pentax K7D!!!
- Square sensor? 1.3 crop factor.
- A new, overhauled, excellent AF system
- At least 5fps
- 1.0x viewfinder
- 720p video with audio
- 1/8000 shutter
- 2.7 or 3.0 inch VGA res screen
- 1.300-1.500Euro

I have an *ist D.
So, you’re about ready for an upgrade, eh shutter-clicker?
I guess so. The *ist D is indeed a fine little camera, but lacks some modern features which I really need, i.e., SR, 10+ MP, better AF, more playback options.
Hopefully the new “K” won’t be too expensive, but feature set looks very promising from what info is already available.
Fingers crossed for something compelling in May, though current speculation of course needs to be take with a large dose of caution.We’ll see…and soon at that.
