Pro-View Wireless Remote Live View
Press Release
Wireless Live View – Maximize photographic performance with Wireless Remote Live View technology.
The Pro-View Wireless Remote Live View brings an innovative new remote viewing system to photographers using DSLR cameras. Photographers are now free to move from behind the confines of their cameras and confidently capture difficult shots. The Pro-View consists of a hand-held color receiver that lets you see what the camera sees up to 500 feet away, thanks to a small video transmission unit that slips over the eyepiece of a DSLR camera.
This novel, ground breaking tool was developed as a result of overwhelming feedback from photographers who are tired of having their composition creativity curtailed by having to place the camera where they can get behind it. The Pro-View Wireless Remote Live View empowers photographers of varying skill levels and application needs to maximize their photographic performance. Whether it’s choreographing quick portrait shots or exploring masterful photographic techniques, a conventional digital SLR camera can possess a whole new level of creative control.
Remember those shots that got away? Do the missed shots still haunt you? You tried the truth is you had no other choice, separated from your target by an obstruction. Whether it be a bustling roomful of wedding guests, unruly sports spectators, or the mob at a celebrity event. In those moments, you were forced to heave your camera above your head, point, and hope for the best. It got away! Or maybe you tried an intriguing perspective shot, but the fast-moving scene wouldn’t allow the opportunity to compose the shot. It got away! Wildlife photographers using the Pro-View and a remote release can get incredible shots while being completely out of sight of wildlife. No photographer enjoys multiple trips to and from the camera to arrange subjects, or relishes lying in the mud to get ground-level macro shots. Maybe the shot didn’t get away, but it sure didn’t come easily. With the Pro-View, low-level shots are a breeze with no more guessing about composition and focus. Now, imagine the creative shots you could achieve and the hours you could save by always seeing what your camera sees, and having the freedom to move from behind the confines of your equipment.
Novice or seasoned pros alike will quickly recognize the advantages of using the Pro-View, as uncomfortable and time-consuming shots previously left to fate are now replaced with effortless confidence. Regardless of where or how the camera is positioned, be it on the ground macros, elevated over the head, or in another room, the Pro-View digitally frames the shot allowing the scene to be viewed on the wireless hand-held color display. The Pro-View can be companioned with a wireless shutter release to enjoy truly remote photography. A built in speaker and microphone system even allows the photographer to hear focus confirmation tone and shutter release from the remote location.

This appears to be nothing more than a Uniden UDW10003 wireless security camera, available for around $150 from numerous sources including Amazon. You’ll have to add a clip to attach it to a viewfinder, one can be taken from a viewfinder eyecup, available for $10-20 from a number of sources.
The $395 price of a Pro-View appears to be rather steep for the value added.
Joseph,
you appear to be right, might certainly be a cheaper way of doing this…
I bought a used Uniden UDW10003 from eBay and tried it with my camera. It doesn’t work.
You can not simply put the Uniden UDW10003 camera to the digital camera’s viewfinder. Image very small and too bright, I can’t see anything. I think Pro-View has added a magnifier lens of some sort so that the Uniden camera does see what the viewfinder sees. Pro-Vision must have Uniden make a special unit for them that does not have the IR lights which have to be covered up since they shine into the viewfinder.
I suspect that the cost of Pro-View may be justified. They have to buy the special order Uniden ($200+?), add a lens and view finder adapter (if someone else does the work, another $100+?)and market it (pay for web site?). If Pro-View does show entirely what the view finder sees, then it may be worth the cost. There is no shutter release on the Pro-View as far as I can see.
For the record, the Uniden UDW10003 is a very nice wireless security camera.
Pat,
Excellent information, thanks for letting us know, (and for stopping by).
I bought the Pro-View! I wanted a wireless remote, not the Aputure Gigtube remote screen which only allowed me to get 6-feet away from the camera using a cable. The Pro-View is perfect. I set my camera and 400mm lens on a tripod and focused on a wildlife subject, in this case a hawk nest. I walked 100 feet into the woods where the hawks could not see me, sat on my stool and watched the hawk nest with the Pro-View screen in one hand and my wireless remote shutter in my other hand. The baby hawks could not see me, but I could see them. The Pro-View was clear enough to see the babies and to see insects flying around them. I had the Pro-View on the zoom setting so the hawk babies filled the screen. I watched for an hour and took photos. I could see the flash illuminate the nest and with the audio on I could hear the shutter of the camera so I knew that a photo had been taken. Using the Pro-View was a lot easier than watching the hawks with binoculars, watching directly through the camera’s viewfinder or using the camera’s live-view.
The Pro-View is well made and comes in a very nice box with two chargers and instruction manual. The Pro-View camera fits well onto the camera’s viewfinder. You have to order the Pro-View with a viewfinder adapter to fit the particular model camera that you are using. I like the Pro-View because it does not use up the battery of my camera like the Aputure Gigtube’s live-view does, and the Pro-View has no cables. The Pro-View does not use the hot shoe like the new Aputure Wireless Gigtube does. Both the Pro-View and my flash fit on the camera at the same time. Also, the Pro-View is situated away from the LCD screen of my camera so that I can replay an image and peek around the side of the Pro-View camera to see a partial view of the enlarged replay image without having to take off the Pro-View.
Communication with Mark Kuss at Pro-View was excellent. He wants the buyer to enjoy the Pro-View. If you don’t like the Pro-View you can return it in 30 days for a full refund. That is why I bought the Pro-View, I could return it if I didn’t like it.
I am keeping the Pro-View. It’s a necessary photographic accessory for people who want to be far away from their camera and still be able to take photos.
