Pentax K2000 Review: Highly Recommended

by Patrick on December 1, 2008

Sporting a 10.2 megapixel sensor, a 2.7 inch LCD, built in image stabilization, dust removal, and a compact size, the Pentax K2000 offers a lot of value for an entry level camera. It shares quite a bit with the K200, and compares very favorably to other entry level cameras, such as the Nikon D60 and Sony A200, though it does lack live view. Photography Blog reviews it and finds highly recommending it easy. A bit from their review on how the K2000 compares to the K200:

The only major difference between the K-m and K200D is that the latter offers better low-light performance, with intrusive amounts of noise appearing at ISO 1600 rather than 800 on the K-m. In all other respects the 10 megapixel images from the cameras are very similar, with very little purple-fringing, accurate colours and a useful built-in flash and Bulb exposure mode, all delivered with the minimum of user input and effort. The various digital effects and ability to develop RAW files in-camera are additional nice touches that help complete a great image quality package.
