Pentax K-x Review at Digital Camera Review: “Excellent Image Quality”
Every time I turn around, I’m seeing another good review of the Pentax K-x. The K-x is the 12 megapixel offering from Pentax intended for consumers looking for an entry-level DSLR camera. What I like about the K-x is how impressively featured it is, and at current prices, the value it offers. Also of interest to me, the K-x doesn’t skimp on the image quality department, which brings me to the latest review of the K-x at digitalcamerareview.com where they like most things about the K-x (well not the battery life, and I’m not a HUGE fan of AA batteries in a digital camera), including that IQ:
This brings us to the ISO performance charts, and this is where the Pentax K-x really sings. The ISO range is 200-6400, with expanded options up to 12800. As you can see in the lab samples, ISO 200 all the way to 1600 produce a great image, which is excellent for a 12.4 megapixel image. As I have said before, 12 megapixels is an optimal resolution for an APS-sized image sensor. I’m glad Pentax stepped away from pushing higher resolutions and concentrated on image quality instead.

[[ As I have said before, 12 megapixels is an optimal resolution for an APS-sized image sensor. I’m glad Pentax stepped away ]]
I second your interest on pentax k-x, but for being conclusive about APS-C sized, Altho you might be right based on WHAT YOU KNOW. If everybody is basing of “what you know” then no manufacturer will create any DSLR higher than 12Mpx in APS-C. You didn’t even give a room for a new technology/new hybrid SENSOR that YOU DIDN’T KNOW. Canon for one even pushes the limit to a none-Fullframe with its very good sample pictures or msybe a MODIFIED Sony EXMOR sensor that can make most hard lighting condition subject to almost a perfect shot.
K-x pentax produce a decent picture on high ISO but new technology never stops and in a few months or more, take this, NEW kind of sensor with a pixel count more than you know will be at the heart of DSLRs, the same goes to its processing unit.
INTEL, AMD has 4cores, 6cores, 8CORES in a single chip and follow 10,12,16,20 etc… believe it
