Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 Review: “They’re Going To Sell A Lot Of These”
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 continues to garner excellent feedback, this time in the form of a review at Digital Camera Resource Page:
Overall, the Lumix DMC-ZS3 produced very good photo qualities that, in most respects, outshine those from the PowerShot SX200 IS. The ZS3 takes photos with accurate exposure, though you’ll occasionally encounter some highlight clipping (as you will on most compact cameras). Photos are sharp as a tack, much more so than on the SX200.
Mind you, this a camera that can nearly do everything for you including tagging faces, via, as a commenter just pointed out, a very functional intelligent auto mode. The near only negative coming from this camera seems to be the lack of manual controls (well, other than WB) where as Canon’s SX200 IS does (have manual controls). And that’s about it for the negatives. Seriously.

outperforms the SX200? fantastic!
Keen on the ZS3, are we?
When will the ZS3 start showing up in stock online? I’ve been waiting for a long time, just sold my TZ5 so I can upgrade. Amazon shows ship time 1-2 months!
I’d say another month for some limited availability. Look at cameras like the LX3, that are still hard to get.
It says shipping at end of April…I have a trip on May 19th…do we think it will ship by then?
Hmmm… I’d for sure have a backup plan in place, even if retailers get them, they might get them in limited numbers etc….
Hi Patrick
Thanks for comparing the 2 cameras. I had been terribly confused between SX200is and ZS3. I was about to decide on SX200is when I happened to come across this page. Can you please answer one question.
Under which circumstances would you think the manual controls of SX200is come into use? Except being able to choose a low aperture for shallow dof and slower shutter speed for blurring, in terms of exposure where do you think manual control will be of advantage?
Thanks,
Varun
Varun,
well you gave perfect examples of when you’d use it. Most folks will never use it, but in my review, to get the running water shots, you had to have manual for that.
