Canon Powershot G10 vs Panasonic Lumix LX3: Resolution Matters There’s A Full Moon Outside

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37 Review: 10 Megapixels, 720P HD Video

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37 features a sensible 10 megapixel sensor, 5x optical zoom (25-125mm), 2.5 inch LCD, and ISO range to ISO 1600 (6400 at 3 megapixels). In addition the DMC-FX37 shoots high definition movies (720p) and has classic, if understated styling. Unfortunately, as listed the DMC-FX37 is a bit overpriced, and in a review at Photography Blog, it offers too little to distinguish it from the competition:

the Panasonic FX37 is reasonably well built, has a handy 720p HD video mode, and if you shop around it can be found for a much more enticing price than the official RRP. But there’s little else to distinguish this model from a host of other slender build contenders

On the other hand the DMC-FX37 does have an excellent intelligent auto mode, perfect for the absolute novice (look ma, no hands!). If the price comes down a bit more, and it is coming down, the FX37 becomes more compelling with the high definition movie feature, so this one requires some smart shopping.
