Nikon P90 Review: Out Specs the Competion, but Underperforms?
The Hubble-like 24x ultra zoom Nikon P90 goes out of its way to make a serious impression on consumers checking the spec sheets. Featuring a 12 megapixel sensor, the 24x zoom lens, and 3 inch tilt LCD, the P90 seems to offer just a bit more than the likely competitors: the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 (our favorite super zoom here) and the Canon SX10 IS. Of course as a review at Camera Labs reminds us, more doesn’t always equal better. So, while the P90 is a fine camera, there are at least 2 better options:
…there are simply better models out there, most notably Canon’s PowerShot SX10 IS and Panasonic’s Lumix DMC-FZ28. Neither match the sheer optical range of the P90, but both comfortably outperform it with superior quality, along with a number of other key advantages described above.
