Photozone has a review of the FX lens designed to replace the AF-D 60 Micro Nikkor, the AF-S 60mm f/2.8 G ED. Popular for macro use, as well as some landscape and portrait work, the Micro-Nikkor AF-S 60mm f/2.8 G ED is a relatively fast lens, with excellent sharpness relative to the price ($475), with one apparent flaw:

The predecessor (AF-D 60 Micro Nikkor) surprised with rather high CA values in our review. Despite a major redesign, the sad news is that the AF-S 60 Micro Nikkor isn’t any better in this regard. CA peak values of 1.4 px which only drop below the one pixel border beyond f/8 honestly are a little disappointing for a brand new lens. However, CAs can easily be corrected in post processing, so it’s not a show stopper, especially if you shoot RAW

Otherwise the Micro-Nikkor AF-S 60mm f/2.8 G ED is an affordable, but good quality macro lens that can do some switch hitting as a fast telephoto if needed.

I’ll just add that for dedicated macro use, the Nikon AF-S 105mm f/2.8 VR Micro would be my recommendation if you can afford the nearly $800 dollars it’ll cost you. If not the poor mans’s macro, the Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Di has optics that equal both of the above, albeit slower, and minus the VR. It runs about $400, and I haven’t seen anything but very favorable reviews for it.
