Nikon D90 Has Arrived: Testing Commences
We’ve received our review unit of the Nikon D90 with the AF-S Nikkor 18-105mm 1:3.5-5.6G ED lens, and in addition, Nikon was kind enough to send with it a copy of their new AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G which I’m excited to thoroughly try out. Out of the box I was impressed by the build quality and ergonomics of the D90. The grip is near perfect for my hands and the shutter release fits right into your finger. With the 35mm f/1.8G attached the Nikon D90 is a very tidy package, noticeably smaller and lighter than the Canon EOS 5D Mark II. We’ll get some photos and video sample up in short order, but I can say that the image quality of both are quite good. (Also, ISO looks pretty impressive too, I can say that I’d be comfortable using ISO 1600–but haven’t explored the higher settings).
In the meantime I’m writing our review of the Canon PowerShot SX200 IS which has been occupying a space in my camera bag for the past week. I still love it’s styling, and it certainly can take some nice pictures.
Further, we hope to be receiving the Olympus E-620 very soon. We’ve heard a lot of good things about it, but are anxious to see for ourselves, and share the results of course.
As before, any requests, tests, etc you’d like to see on any of the cameras we review, please drop us an email (patrick at neutralday dot com), leave a comment, and follow us on twitter.
