Nikon D3000 Review at Photography Blog: “Highly Recommended”

The 10.2 megapixel Nikon D3000 seems to offer first time DSLR users an “easy” path to moving up to a solid entry level offering. In large part this achieved by gentle hand holding via the D3000’s “Intelligent Guide” which walks new users through various camera functions. In an early review at Photography Blog, the Nikon D3000 earns a “Highly Recommended” despite missing some of today’s more commonly found features such as live view, and HD movie recording:

If we’re being overly critical of what is ‘just’ a budget or starter model it’s probably because, Intelligent Guides and hand holding aside, it literally doesn’t feel like one. It’s a solid model in every sense of the word that should see the amateur photographer through years of happy service.

  1. Haven’t tried the D3000 yet myself, though I am enjoying reading all of the buzz. Peter Burian just did a field test with the Nikon D3000, his review (on Photocrati) gives it pretty high marks…
