This ad says August 28.

And consensus says the 27th. We think the odds are good for a camera or two on one of those dates. What to expect? Well there is a lot of forum speculation on “rangefinder” type cameras, but that seems unlikely right now. Safer money is on the D90, a lens, and maybe possibly a D3 variant.

How about the 24mp D3x? Thom thinks it is unlikely:

I simply don’t know any details about the high resolution FX body at the moment. If it were about to pop, I normally would, thus I have to conclude that it’s not about to pop.

The other possiblity of course would be an upgrade to the D3 with increased buffer size, sensor cleaning, minor upgrades…Thom calls it the D3s, but maybe D3h?

Best thing to do is expect the D90 and a 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G DX VR lens and be thankful for any extras.
