Leica M9 Review at PDN Gear Guide

Looking for the ultimate image quality in a compact sized camera body? Look no further than the Leica M9, boasting an 18 megapixel full frame Kodak sensor in a rangefinder sized camera. With the Leica M9, you don’t just get beautiful pictures, you also happen to get a beautiful camera, which in either its steel grey duotone look or all black option, is bound illicit all sorts of joy for those who can afford it. So how does it work out as a camera? In a review at PDN Gear Guide the M9 presents the usual challenges of rangefinder camera, but the image quality will be worth it:

As a daylight and mixed light camera, image quality from the M9 was outstanding. I got transcendent color depth in shots I captured in Central Park at mid-day and superior dynamic range in my stroll up Broadway with the sun setting. Also, though it’s a bigger sensor, I got very little vignetting or a fall off of sharpness from the 50mm I tested the M9 with.

Basically, great for making art, but likely not your first choice for doing work. Get that review here.
