Launch Date and Pricing for Panasonic Gh1, Additional Video Sample

Panasonic conveniently forgot to tell us when they introduced the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH1 at this year’s PMA a couple of rather crucial details:

  • When can we get one?
  • How much will it cost?

Well, they’ve gotten around to answering those questions, at least for one market. Naturally the Japan market:

On Wednesday Panasonic announced it in Japan and said the camera with a 45-200-millimeter lens will cost around ¥150,000 (US$1,530). That’s about ¥30,000 more expensive than the DMC-G1 kit version that came with a 45-140mm lens.

In Japan it will go on sale from April 24. Panasonic still doesn’t have pricing or launch details for other markets.

I’d expect that U.S. pricing will be less, much less or this ain’t selling.

Also Panasonic’s Japan site has additional video and still media on their site here. Note the video is deliberately showing off the continuous AF in video mode and it’s doing a fine job at that too.
