Handful of Pentax K-7 Image Samples

You may have noticed that there are nearly zero full-sized image samples available from the newly announced Pentax K-7 right now, and this is because all the early preview units are running early firmware. I get the feeling that Pentax has some tinkering yet to do with the firmware, especially in regards to ISO and most certainly video. That said, Pentax has released 4 images at their Japan site, though I’m sure you’ll quickly notice all were taken at ISO 100. They do look good, given the lenses, but hey- most things do look good at ISO 100.

You can check them out here.

  1. Yes, an insider source tells me they’ve been particularly told to disregard high-ISO noise in early firmware versions.

I hope that will be solved good, because otherwise it seems like a kick-ass camera.

  2. It seems to be in a class by itself right now…what exactly competes with it?

  3. I guess to the layman, Canon 50D and Nikon D300.

  4. Hmm… D300 or D90? And I twittered this thought already but either way the competitor (excepting Oly E-30) are well into their product cycles.
If you’re buying a prosumer in the next 4 months you’re picking from:
    Pentax K-7
    Nikon D90/D300
    Canon 50D
    Olympus E-30
    Sony A700
Given proper shelf space the Pentax looks really good!
