2008: The Year In Pictures Canon EOS 5D Mark II vs Nikon D700: ISO Comparison

Full Frame Comparison: Decisions, Decisions… (and a POLL!)

If you had to decide between the Canon EOS 5D Mark II, the Nikon D700, and the Sony A900, which would you choose? Mike Johnston at The Online Photographer has posted his thoughts on that very question, which is for sure today’s recommended reading. If you’ve been following his posts on the three cameras, you might have picked up his fondness for the Sony A900, and I’m pretty sure of the 3 cameras, it’d be the one he’d pick. Regardless, that’s the right camera for him, but the right camera for you will require you’re own due diligence.

For my part the decision is incredibly difficult, the cameras are all really good. I know I want improved ISO performance and I know that I want full frame. I think I can narrow down the list to the Canon EOS 5D Mark II or the Nikon D700. From that point, the higher resolution of the 5D2 appeals to me. I think. On the other hand, I’ve only had Nikons, they fell better to me, and the AF of the Nikon D700 is as good as it gets. But I don’t typically shoot action. But maybe that’s because I don’t have that great AF to do it. Wow, it just gets tougher and tougher.

Perhaps a coin toss is in order?

What’s the group think on the 3 cameras? I know, A POLL!

I don’t want you to select which one is the best…Pick the one that’s best for you. May or may not be a difference.
