Daily Briefing: Canon EOS 1D Mark IV Arrives, Etc.
What’s Happening
I was ecstatic yesterday when the big brown truck pulled up with a package inside from B&H Photo. Inside that package, the Canon EOS 1D Mark IV. We got the battery out of there as fast as possible, charged it, and spent the rest of the day shooting with the Mark IV. I’ve yet to really look at the captures, but from what I could see on the LCD, the AF looks to be fast and accurate. ISO analysis pending…
The fact that I’ve got one for testing means they are trickling into B&H right now, basically in and out of stock. I strongly suggest you put your name down for the email notification, and likely you’ll get one very soon.
Hopefully I can get some samples up later today or tomorrow.
Camera Deals
As we mentioned yesterday, the Canon EOS 5D Mark II, now under $2500 at B&H Photo. Sweetening the deal…a free 16gb memory card and a free camera bag.

Canon EOS 1D Mark IV? Didn’t that come months ago?
Is it your own?
No,I wish…this is our review unit. I’m still fine with the 5D2, which is holding up well even compared to this guy. I can say the D3s definitely superior at high ISO, no question..the ISO king right now.
“I’m still fine with the 5D2, which is holding up well even compared to this guy.”
Sounds good.
A commenter at tOP slagged the 5D2, I don’t get it, I really like it.
Yeah I don’t get that either. It takes great pictures, and prior to the D3s was one of the best ISO cameras out there. In the studio or on the street it can do anything. So maybe sports you get something else, but I still like my 5D2.
Did you turn on NR on the Canon? You have to remember above ISO 25600 Nikon automatically does NR even if you have it off.
