Casio Exilim EX-FC100 Reviews: “Most Versatile Camera on the Market”

Offering Casio’s high speed continuous shooting in an ultra-slim compact form factor, the Casio Exilim EX-FC100 features a 9.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, 5x zoom lens, 2.7 inch LCD display, and the aforementioned 30 FPS continuous shooting capabilitly. Thrown in for good measure is the ability to shoot high definition video, in addition to (in true Casio Exilim fashion) a 1000 fps high speed video mode!

So how does this all work out as a compact camera? 2 reviews recently shed some light on that very question. First up Trusted Reviews, who found the 9.1 megapixel sensor to take good pictures with the help of the FC100’s lens:

The lens is good, producing very little wide-angle distortion and virtually no chromatic aberration, with good corner sharpness. Colour reproduction is very good, recording detail even in bright saturated colours, and even dynamic range isn’t too bad for a small-sensor 9MP compact, capturing a reasonable balance between highlight and shadow detail.

Meanwhile over at Crunch Gear they get much more into the fun-factor of the FC100:

The 30fps function is more versatile. Hit the high-speed button, and now you can hold down the shutter and it will take pictures, one every 30th of a second, for as long as you hold the shutter or until its cache is full. You can then browse through them and pick the best one, or save them all. I love this.

What’s clear from both reviews is that the FC100 is stylish and competent compact camera, and that 30 FPS might be more useful than gimmicky.
