Canon Powershot G10 Review
The ever popular 14.7 megapixel Canon Powershot G10 gets the review treatment from Camera Labs. There are just enough improvements made to the G10 that I suspect some G9 users will be tempted to upgrade. The exterior has a more serious look, DIGIC IV has been implemented, a higher resolution screen, and a 5x 28-140mm f/2.8-4.5 zoom lens. From the review:
Like most compacts, the G10 delivers its best results at the lowest sensitivities, and that means 80 and 100 ISO. There’s a drop in ultimate detail at 200 ISO and a noticeable reduction in quality at 400; the Panasonic LX3 may be no angel at high sensitivities, but it’ll outperform the G10 at this point, although set both cameras to their lowest sensitivities and the G10 will comfortably out-resolve it. The G10’s RAW files also boost its maximum resolving power further.
Indeed, when set to its lowest 80 ISO sensitivity, the G10 is capable of capturing a huge amount of detail…
The G10 ends up walking away with a highly recommended. In reality there’s only a few direct competitors in the G10’s class, all of them capable performers–which one to pick will largely come down to taste and desired featured sets.
The Canon Powershot G10 is now available from Amazon for $463.80, and from B and H for $455.95.
