Canon Not Attending PMA 2010
Multiple sites are reporting that Canon will be a no-show for next year’s PMA show, with Crave reporting:
According to Melissa Dara Moritz, public relations manager of Canon USA, the firm’s decision to pull out from PMA 2010 is a result of “changes in the industry.” The imaging giant will shift its attention to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas instead as it is more in line with Canon’s current direction.

This has to be a blow, at least from a P.R. perspective, to the organizers of the PMA show, while at the same time being an indicator of how even mega corporations like Canon will have to discreetly pick their battles. I can only imagine there has been some serious cost to benefit analysis in attending these large trade shows, but I’m curious if Canon is the outlier or a harbinger for other dropouts.
Also, I’m going to go out on a limb here and speculate that Canon won’t be announcing a new Rebel at PMA next year.
