Canon EOS 7D Firmware Update: Version 1.1.0
Canon has released a firmware update for the EOS 7D that aims to correct a “ghosting” phenomenon on images shot while in continuous shooting mode. According to Canon, version 1.1.0 addresses:
Corrects a phenomenon that in images captured by continuous shooting, and under certain conditions, barely noticeable traces of the immediately preceding frame may be visible.
This phenomenon is not noticeable in an image with optimal exposure. The phenomenon may become more noticeable if a retouching process such as level compensation is applied to emphasize the image.
I’ve no luck trying to duplicate this phenomenon with our review unit, but apparently this effecting some users.

With this recent 7D AF issues, would you still recommend this againts the Nikon d300s?
regards
Chad,
I haven’t had any AF issues with our unit, but to answer your question: “Absolutely”. I still think the D300s has a better AF system, but not because there was anything wrong functionally with the EOS 7D’s AF. The D300s also has a slightly better build, materials “feel” better. If you JUST do sports, get the D300s, otherwise I really enjoyed the EOS 7D, in many ways preferring it to my EOS 5D2, and definitely recommended.
