Canon EOS 5D Mark II vs Nikon D700: ISO Comparison
Eric at Photography Bay has posted a real nice ISO comparison between the Canon EOS 5D Mark II and the Nikon D700. It’s pretty clear to me that the Nikon D700 is better at higher ISO with less noise and better looking noise than the Canon EOS 5D Mark II. That said, both cameras can take perfectly usable ISO 1600 images. I mean totally fine, no hesitation, set it to ISO 1600 and take photos. Both can do ISO 3200 as well, though perhaps with some caution, a smidge of caution. Even ISO 6400 is in the realm of real possibility.
For me that’s just amazing. It really is.
Order your Canon 5D Mark II today: at Amazon, Adorama body only $2699, or from B and H for $2699.95
You can get the Nikon D700 at Amazon for $2319.
Oh and take the poll on which full frame camera you prefer (if you haven’t already).

Yeah, I agree Patrick, the Nikon handles the situation much better, and I noticed the Canon’s noise was very chromatic = /, which is a concern because that kind of noise is much harder to get rid of and much more noticeable. But I am still on board to get the canon.
It seems odd to list the factual reasons that camera x is better than camera y, yet still get camera y, and yet I’m leaning the same way you are.
