Canon EOS 5D Mark II Review at Imaging Resource
They’ve had their preview up for some time now, but Imaging Resource’s final review of the Canon EOS 5D Mark II is finally up. Regular readers will know by now that I love to feature comparisons, and this review includes a few, comparing the 5D2 with the likes of the Nikon D700, Canon 1Ds Mark III, Sony A900, and yes the Nikon D3x. No, it isn’t beating the Nikon D3x which:
outperforms even the Canon 5D Mark II at its highest ISO setting. Those who have been belly-aching about the D3x’s $8,000 price point should pipe down. Still, the 5D Mark II does compare well considering its $2,700 price and video capability. And though it seems clear that the D3x’s 24.5-megapixel sensor could go to higher ISO settings, the Canon 5D Mark II can go two stops higher and still capture reasonable detail in low light.

But, for me, just hanging in the same neighborhood as an $8000 camera is high praise in and of itself. Still there’s plenty more positives (and honestly not very many negatives) to find in the review, which you can get here.
Get the Canon EOS 5D Mark II at Amazon body only $2700 (Order from Amazon, not 3rd party), Adorama body only $2699, or from B and H for $2699.95.
