If you’re hungry for more detailed information on the newly announce digital SLR camera, the Canon EOS 50D, then you’ll want to make the trip over to DPR.
You’ll have noticed by now the 50D is sporting the extremely useful high resolution 920,000 pixel LCD which judging by this:
New Clear View 3.0″ LCD
An area where the EOS 40D was really starting to lag has been addressed in the EOS 50D with a new 920,000 pixel (VGA x RGB) screen that from our initial comparisons seems to be even better than the one found on the Nikon D3 (by virtue of its lower reflectance and wider viewing angle).-DPR
…Looks to be excellent. Other notables here include Canon’s claim of improved weather sealing over the 40D, 4 on camera settings for noise reduction, the now obligatory HDMI out, vignette correction based on a inboard database of Canon lenses, and multiple RAW settings (for 15.1MP, 7.1MP or 3.8MP).
Also the wait for additional image samples is officially on. The comparisons that’ll be interesting (obviously) are going to be, 50D vs D300, 50D vs 40D, 50D vs, D90. If the noise management is as good as Canon is leading us to believe then I think the pricing will lead to some interesting camera decisions for consumers.

My statistics of pre-orders show extreme interest in this camera. Nothing to compare when Canon 40D was launced.
New Canon 5D MKII realease has not affested preorders so far.
