2008 PMA rumors, Sony A200?, Nikon D60?, Nikon D90?,Canon 5d replacement

Until we get to PMA, I suppose we can expect a constant stream of internet leaks, real and photochopped pictures of cameras, and serious photographers dropping morsels of information on potential new cameras from the major manufactures. Today we started the day with possible pictures of a Sony A200 which could only be meant to replace the A100. If real, I’d guess they’d bump it up to 12 mega pixels, most likely sharing a lot of features from the A700. In the pictures I did notice a bit of rubberized grip, giving it a more “pro” like feel and look no doubt, and definitely something I wished the A100 had shipped with. I was actually a little surprised by this news, I was expecting to hear first of a A900 or whatever name they may come up with for their “pro level” camera. There’s more pics, but not much info here. Not surprising, Nikon D60 rumors. This camera is ridiculously popular and is a great entry dslr. A D60 would just keep that train rolling. The source of the D60 information? Basically, this guy. Square this with reports on a new VR lens for Nikon, the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G VR (see pics here) and you theoretically have a very nice Nikon with a VR kit lens that would be perfect for everyday use, an excellent package depending on final costs. The other major Nikon rumor relates to the D80, whose life cycle points to a replacement immediately, hence the obvious D90 rumors. This one also seems like a definite if only for the product cycle alone. I wouldn’t doubt that it will share at least 90% of the D300’s major features, bigger screen, live view, faster fps, more focus points, and certainly it’ll get the bump to 12 mega pixels. It will be well reviewed and hugely popular.
Finally, back to the Canon 5d replacement, also known on the internet as Canon 5d Mark II, or the 7d. Again product cycle basically demands a replacement of a camera heavily in use by serious amateurs and many pros. But beyond that I noticed at Photography Bay a “person” from Canon claiming they will be making a new improved version of the 5d. This of course would immediately put it on my lust list. For the complete interview of the “Canon Guy” you can click here to get a google translation of the original Chinese page. Again, thanks to Photography Bay for this 5d Mark II info. Of course to really drive yourself insane you could just dive into the madness that is the DPR forums where your sure to fine links to multiple obscure pages on all the above, or you could try to wait 28 more days till PMA. (see ya in the forums)
